Thank Yous

Here are the Thank Yous from my new album “Catalyst – EP”

Thank yous are hard; I have so much to be thankful for…

First and foremost, I’d like to thank my family.  To Mum and Dad-—I love you so much. Thank you for always encouraging my creativity, and being my biggest fans.  I wouldn’t be where I am without your unconditional love and support. You’re the best parents I could ever hope for.  To Olivia and Vanessa—-I love you, sisters!  Thank you for getting my songs stuck in your heads, and always being so excited for me. I’m so lucky to have you both!

A BIG thank you to all my extended family for your continued support and encouragement, and to Babcha for letting me practice on the grand piano.  I am very grateful to all of you!

To the musicians who worked with me on this EP—-Mike, Tommy, Dan, and Mark thank you for all your hard work and long hours.  You’ve been truly amazing! I am humbled by your musicianship.

To my co-producer Elyse Simpson… Thanks for being my right-hand.  It’s been great to       have someone who thinks like me in the mixing booth. Your idea for “manspers” was inspired!

To Justin Koop (Btown Sound); It has been a real pleasure working with you. Thank you for all the time and energy you have put into this project to make it sound just right; I could not have done this without your help and guidance.

To Amanda MacLeod… The hand drawn heart on the cover of this EP is PERFECT!  Thank you.

Thanks to all my friends who have helped and supported me for as long as I can       remember- a special shout out to Jenn Newton.

I am grateful to Chris Ellerbeck and Maggie Donec for their contributions to my website and promotional photos respectively.

Thanks to Tom Oliver, Brani Kalan, Glen Nowell, Rob Fekete, Michael Stuart, David Story, and all my teachers at Mohawk.

It couldn’t have happened without all of you—-I am very grateful!

Always,

Hayley

Catalyst EP

I have some very exiting news to share with you all… My EP is almost ready to be mastered!

For those of you who haven’t heard, I’m releasing an EP called Catalyst in mid-May. There are six songs on it, all written by me. It’s been a lot of work to put together, and I’m really excited about it! I can’t wait for you all to hear it.

I have had the privilege of working with some amazing musicians to record and produce all the songs on the EP.
My co-producer, Elyse Simpson, has been brilliant–supportive, critical, helpful, and creative in equal measure. She is a comfort to have in the mixing booth. I love her to bits and I can’t thank her enough for her help!
My drummer, Mike Rajna, is unreal. He’s so creative and talented, and he brought some really cool ideas to each of the tracks. Mike agreed to play on this EP for me two years ago when the idea for this album was born; and it makes me so happy that he is a part of this!
Tom Altobelli, my bassist, just killed it in the best possible sense. He played the upright and the electric bass… He even played bowed bass for my ballad “Here We Go Again”–and it makes me so happy whenever I hear it!
My guitarist, Dan Mariani, played some great solos. His tone was exactly what I wanted for those song, and it just really fits well!
My trumpet player, Mark Thomson, did a fantastic job playing on my tune “Unfamiliar Territory”. Even though, as he points out, he only plays for a total of thirty seconds, it is a great solo. I’m so happy he was able to join the band for the recording of this tune.

My entire band made this whole experience so fantastic, I can’t thank them enough for the time and effort they put in. They have been very patient with me and my countless emails. I can’t wait to play with them live!

I also want to say a big thank you to Justin, our sound engineer. He’s done a great job so far. There’s still a little work to be done on our final mixes and we need to master the tunes. I can’t wait to go back into the studio next week to finish it up!

Stay tuned! There’s a lot more EP news to come!

Some news

So the big news as of late is that my vocal chords are super messed up. According to quite a few people who really know what they’re talking about, I wont be able to sing again for… oh, six months? HUGE bummer.

However, I think you should always celebrate life’s challenges… So now I just have to figure out how to celebrate this one.

First Blog!

A big thank you to Ryan for helping FINALLY get my website looking respectable!
